Hello, me ol' china

Evening all.

Not much to report.

Byeeeeeee......

Ha, as if! Actually it's not been totally boring at all.  I've enjoyed today. It's been so hot and sunny.

Went to the Princess's new school this morning for a parents' meeting. The husband came and it was great, although her new teacher looks about 15. Now I feel old. She looks like Stacey out of Gavin & Stacey. It was all I could do not to say: "Oh Stace, what's occuring?"

The handsome dad came and sat next to me as we all arrived. Sadly he is a little too short for my liking but still handsome (hark at me talking as if I can pick and choose men. And hark at me talking as if I am single). The husband knows I think this dad is handsome. He couldn't care less. He's a very trusting, non jealous man. Thank god. I think he knows after 15 years together that he is the only man for me.

Unless Jon Bon Jovi came in of course. He's on my laminate and the husband accepts it.

Anyway as I got up off the bench we were sitting on (to catch the Prince who was running off during the hour long meeting), the handsome dad nearly fell off his perch.

I think it was my weight that did it, the bench kind of tipped up. It then creaked when I sat back down...you could have heard a pin drop. I doubt he finds me a catch. I also bet he hopes he will never have to catch me, with the sound the bench made when I sat down.

Anyway, when the Prince went down for a nap late morning, I got a huge cushion and took it out in the garden and sunbathed for half an hour. It was bliss. I fell asleep while hearing all the kites flying around and crying out their sound.

Here is my gorgeous treasure from the cherry tree today. An absolute bargain at £8.99 from Oxfam. It will be coming out for all my family afternoon teas. Let them eat cake. Ah I wish Nanny was alive, she would so love this! She would always come over for tea and bring a large coffee and walnut sponge cake and a bunch of bananas. Never sure why she brought the bananas but I was grateful!

I also bought this Fat Face scarf from Barnado's for £1.99. Appalling photo - so blurry but I didn't notice til just now. It is really soft.

Tomorrow I have a lovely friend coming for coffee after the school run for an hour or so and then I am flying out to get some food in (and visit some cherry tree shops) as my parents are coming over in the afternoon and staying for dinner, before driving home with the Princess. They are having her until Sunday morning and always thoroughly spoil her!

I will really miss her and the husband is working all weekend so it will be just me and the Prince. Odd. Bet he won't let me out of his sight.

Today he yelled: "Mum! Muuuuum! Up. Now" and at lunchtime I put his plate of food in front of him and he shook his head and said "Hate hate hate. Away."

God what does he think I am, a slave?!

But I feel wistful at the moment as he always used to call water "gorka". Now he calls it "porter". And I feel I shall never pour him some gorka ever again. Another milestone.

Away with the fairies

My dear little Princess lost her 8th tooth this week. It's not a sight for the faint-hearted. Shane McGowan from The Pogues, eat your heart out.

Don't view if about to eat...yikes.

As I went to sneak a pound coin under her pillow, I felt a rustling and found a letter on a page of A4 which she had written to Sparkle the tooth fairy.

I love her innocence and will continue to embrace it. How could the tooth fairy just leave a pound coin after receiving a letter like this? I don't know if you can read it but the Princess is asking the tooth fairy questions and arranging to meet up. They had been in previous correspondence which is why we know the fairy is called Sparkle.

Sparkle decided to write back. This was at midnight.

She also left a tiny pot of Fairy Dust...

And last time she left this fairy bracelet...

This made the Princess's day. She burst in at 6am to share the good news with us. This was the downside. The girl normally has to be woken at 8am to rouse from her nest.

Everything has been lovingly stored in the fairy box.

And now we live in hope, waiting to see whether Sparkle will actually appear and meet the Princess. It is what she is dreaming of. I love this age. They think they are grown up, but they are still as sweet as ever.

Onto treasures from the cherry tree shop today. I used to wear these earrings when I was 15. I bought them from Tumi, a South American shop (remember it?) I can only find one at the moment but I wore them ALL the time as a teenager.

I then bought this pair from the same shop when I was about 18.  For me they provoked memories of beaches, azure sea, the scent of suntan oil and seagulls calling out.

So imagine my delight to come across this in Oxfam for £1.99.

A happy, reunited jewellery family. I am absolutely thrilled. This is a real treasure from the cherry tree as far as I am concerned.

Noooooooo......

I am gutted. I have lost a follower. What did I do wrong I am wondering... maybe I am becoming boring. Maybe my charity shop offerings were no longer exciting.

I'd love to know.

It's a bit like being dumped as a friend on Facebook, although for some reason, on here I find it more of a shame.

I wish I knew who it was, but Blogger only gives me the number of followers and not the names. I wish I could find out if they were just a passing follower or someone I often contact after reading their posts. Am trying to work it all out but also trying not to dwell on it too much.  Was just a little surprised and now feeling a little bit flat about it.

Onto Treasures from the Cherry Tree. My treasure today is this for the Princess. A cute, ditsy floral dress originally from Boden . It was from Sue Ryder for £3. I nearly missed it as it was falling off the coat hanger and fairly hidden away.

I love the simplicity, the pattern and the gingham ruffle at the bottom.

Ooh talking of ruffles, I have TOTAL dress envy today. One of the mums at school had the lushest dress on ever. It was a bit boho, colourful and has ra-ra ruffles. She can't remember where it's from but thought it was possibly from a catalogue that she ordered from a few years ago. I had to refrain from grabbing her, wrestling her and pinning her down to look at the label...yes, it's total dress envy. Imagine that in the school playground.

Evil Tuesday again tomorrow. I swear it comes around quicker each week.
