Thank the lord for lovely friends!

I am eating a sausage while writing this blog post and really regretting the fact I have tuned into Embarrassing Bodies. A dodgy willy shown in all its (non existant) glory, is not looking unlike my bit of saucisse that I was hoping to enjoy and I am feeling rather...pigged off, quite frankly.

Ah well, I won't starve. Not after the amount I've consumed today.

I have had such a lovely day today. I invited three bloggy friends over for lunch as we all live in the same neck of the woods. In the past I have been a little hesitant about meeting up, in case bubbles burst and it's not the same in "real life".

Oh how wrong I was. HOW wrong.

Left to right: Sarah, Ashley, Sarah and me!

I had met up with Sarah at Annaboo's House a couple of weeks ago and we had a laugh. So I invited her over to mine for lunch today, along with the extremely wonderful Sarah at Shabby Chic Sarah and the ever so divine Ashley at Country Rose.

Yes the gorgeous shabby chic one and her country bumpkin friend turned up about a zillion hours later than planned due to traffic trouble but we made up for lost time.

These situations are always met with a little trepidation. What if we don't gel like we do in Blogland? What if they had higher expectations than I could live up to? Well, I needn't have worried. The girls arrived, there were "gert" (I am from Somerset, this means  "massive") hugs all round and then we scoffed our way through lunch.

The Prince fell for Rose. Tonight he told me "I love that boy Rose".....I had to correct him, but I knew what he meant. She is adorable. And rather cheeky!

Up to no good. Again!

Sarah (of the shabby chic variety) had brought me these cheery daffs with a lovely hand-made brooch.

She also requested I made my Trifle Crawford desserts which I did.

I was worried we wouldn't have room, but let me tell you, we are HARD CORE at the dining table. Don't invite us four anywhere if you were hoping to keep some left overs for the next day...

I'd made a lemon drizzle cake too but we ran out of time (ho hum, I'll have to eat that tomorrow) as I had to scoot off for the school run and parents' evening.

Sarah (Annaboo) brought me some lovely tulips and these two Ladybird books. Praise the Lord for my lovely new friends. It was like we'd all known each other for years.

Apparently only 30p each! Bargainous.

Look at this sweet drawing found at the back!

Do not invite us to an All You Can Eat. Because we will EAT IT ALL...

And now I shall look once more at that sausage, get the horrid Embarrassing Bodies willy image out of my mind, and continue with my meal at 10.35pm. That programme really is TMI at any time of day.

Like Miranda, I love to Converse

It is a gloomy day but I'm rather enjoying it. The Princess is away for the weekend staying with my parents and the house is so quiet without her (I am missing her desperately but peace is good!)

You can hear a pin drop round at my gaff today.

My parents arrived yesterday in time to collect the Princess from the school run. She bounced out of school so happily, she loves my parents deeply and they have a strong bond from when I used to work three days a week and my mum looked after her.

They stayed for dinner and we had roast chicken with salad and new spuds. Followed by Trifle Crawford in the new cherry tree dishes I bought. My mum loved them and has some similar Laura Ashley ones in the same colour but they are taller.

So my parents stayed for a few hours before driving the Princess back home to theirs. We had such a lovely time with plenty of silliness which is standard in our family. I always spend a good half hour showing my mum all my recent cherry tree purchases and as always, we agree we must get together and go in search of more treasures together.

My lovely mum

My lovely dad
My dad brought a folder containing all my school reports so am hoping to have a look through all that tonight while the husband is at work. Should raise a few laughs.

After my parents went, the husband and I put the Prince to bed and cuddled up on the sofa with wine, peanut M&Ms and watched The King's Speech. Really good film, we usually wait til the films are out on DVD as can rarely get out to the cinema, what with the husband's mad working hours and no babysitters.

After the film, we watched Miranda which I'd recorded. She makes us laugh out loud every time. The husband said Miranda reminds him of a combination of me, Davina McCall and a friend of ours. I kind of know what he means. I can see parts of myself in Miranda too and I think we would have a laugh if we ever met. I love all her camera "asides". Very funny.

Then we went to bed far too late after possibly a leetle bit too much wine.

My love has gone to work today. The Prince trashed the Princess's room which I am still trying to rectify before she returns tomorrow.

He always climbs in her toy box when she is away
but knew he was being cheeky so refused to look  at the camera
Then I gave him a lolly and asked him to eat it in the garden (it wasn't raining at this point, I'm not that cruel!) but then lost him. All the gates were shut and locked but I couldn't find him anywhere. I came into the study to find this...

He knows he is not allowed to eat in there. Worst still, he is not allowed to lie on the fairly new sofa bed (I won it in a competition last year) licking a Fab lolly.  And his face says it all. I did my "What are you dooooing?" high pitched voice and he just laughed and told me to "shush"....literally. Shush. How very dare he?!

He is in bed now and I am blogging, making chicken soup, tidying up, trying to perfect my crochet (not happening) and then need to do some writing work.

I bought a gorgeous cherry tree skirt yesterday but will show it tomorrow as camera is full at the mo.  Therefore I will leave you with a treasure from the cherry tree bought by one of my best friends.

She knows the husband and I have always worn Converse (I have since I was 13) and she found a pink pair to match mine for the Princess. DELIGHTED was not the word when she gave me them. So now the Princess and I wear pink and the husband and Prince wear red.

I believe she found them in Oxfam for under a fiver...she may have to correct me if I am wrong.

Silliness and treasures

Never, ever ask a fisherman if he has crabs............it doesn't go down well.

I did this in Whitstable on Sunday morning at the fish market. My friend dared me to do it with a sensible face and no smirking; she knows I love a challenge. I was brave and ballsy but the fisherman wasn't best pleased.

His eventual response? "Don't worry, you'd be safe with me, love."

It was my turn to be speechless.

Still obsessing about my weekend for all the wonderful moments as well as the Noo Noo moment. Am in the middle of writing a little news story for the local Whitstable rag as well as blogging at the moment. I will track that lost toy down, but until I do, I promise not to keep mentioning him. Would hate to lose followers over it...

I bought these beauties for £1 each from a cherry tree shop whilst in Whitstable.

Can imagine a mini knickerbocker glory in these!

NEVER iron tea towels. Ever

Just added some frozen raspberries for a "bit of fancy"
Have my parents coming on Friday so will make individual Trifle Crawfords as the kids and the husband love it.

Wore a £2 cherry tree shop dress today and four people complimented me in it. It's one of those dresses that I think makes me look pregnant as it is quite "balloony" at the front and back (under the bust). But a chap at work loved it, so did a cashier in Waitrose and a couple of mums on the school run.

I really delighted in saying "Oh thanks, it's a cherry tree number" until I realise they have NO idea what I am wittering on about. The only pic I have of me wearing it at the mo is one Cuckoo took in May. Yer tis.

Actually you can hardly see it.
 Will get another pic soon

Oh and note to self. When you give the children an ice lolly in the garden, in the hope it will buy you extra blogging minutes, never assume they are still slurping lollies whilst you continue to lose yourself in Blogland.

Instead, the Princess decided to dress herself up as a boy called James. One of her favourite pastimes.

I then heard much wailing as the Prince walked down the stairs. Dressed as a fairy. Sparkle to be precise.

And actually deciding to wear the pink Crocs, rather than his own blue ones.
He seemed to get over it though and rather enjoyed prancing around the garden giggling like a girl. Must not encourage this though I guess. Will find his rugby ball tomorrow...
